TCL is gradually adding filmmaker mode support to its Mini LED TVs

According to news on May 20, TCL recently officially confirmed that its 2025 Mini LED TV will be equipped with a filmmaker mode model. This feature has previously appeared in many models on the market, and some older TVs have also gained this feature through system updates.

In TCL's 2025 product line, this feature is marked in the technical parameter tables of models such as C9K, QM6K, QM7K in the North American market and T7L in the Chinese market. TCL confirmed to FlatpanelsHD last week that the mode is available on the QM6K, QM7K, QM8K and X11K series in the US and Canada, as well as the C6K, C7K, C8K, C9K and X11K series in Europe.

TCL is a late follower of the filmmaker model, having launched it in 2024 years ago it was made clear that there are no plans to add this mode to its TV products.

Officially, the current version of Filmmaker Mode only supports SDR and HDR10 content. It is expected to add support for Dolby Vision through an update in the second half of this year. When users play content in compatible applications, the TV will automatically switch to this mode.

TCL also specifically stated that this mode is specially designed for dark room environments, and it is recommended that users continue to use "movie mode" in bright scenes.

According to IT House, the filmmaker mode was launched in 2019 and advertises "presenting film and television content in the way that filmmakers expect." This mode turns off picture processing functions such as dynamic smoothing and ensures that the aspect ratio, color and frame rate meet the original creative intention.
